There She Goes Again...

She is off on another adventure.
And with her goes a piece of my heart.

See you in four weeks in Montana my darling!

Sometimes it seems so hard to let them go off like that, even though we know that we always meant for them to grow up to be independent. sigh...

It always makes me sad every time my kids leave ....even after a short visit to Maine...the house just seems so quiet...but in a few hours I adjust...because they always come back...she is doing what she loves...

Oh, it's so hard to let them go! My daughter has lived about three hours away for the last five years and I'm still so sad when she and her family leave! Get out that camera, stay busy, and the time will pass before you know it!

It must be different with girls. I've mostly been ok with my "boys" leaving, feeling it was good for them to have their independence and adventures ... And honestly, I liked having mine. ;->

Oh, this tugged at my heart strings too. I have all of this to come. All this time we are teaching them to be strong, independent and to follow their dreams. And then they go off and have adventures on their own! Still, Montana in 4 weeks sounds pretty good.

Oh I know this feeling. I've watched my older son do this a few times and now at 25 he's moving to England to work for a year as a teacher and who knows, he may stay longer. It's those "reconnections" when they come back or we meet them somewhere else that are so much sweeter than when they were with us all the time. I love the image of your daughter walking away from you, but towards something new and exciting. It's what being a parent is all about, isn't it?

So hard to watch them walk toward their adventures but our heart swells when they return to share with us what they have learned.....

I know this feeling, too. Honestly, I love my empty nest, but I still cry when my daughter's plane takes off after a visit.
